landing gear, elevator and servos Il y a 1 an, 2 mois Karma: 1
Sirs,
thank you for your cool website, but mainly for the A320. I am buliding this plane, I have done wings, rudder, elevator and ca 50% fuselage. Now I'm going to instal landing gear. I want to make not retractable gear (as shown on your photos). But, I dont understand how to attach nose gear to fuselage. According to your plans, it seems to be attached on F6, but I dont believe it is true - F6 is made of depron! I can't fix gear on depron!

Simmilar questin I have about main gear. On which part is attached it?

Than I have a question about elevator. Confirm, that two halves of elevator are attached on F18+F19 and together connected by two plywood boards?

One of my last questions? Where exactly did you place servos for rudder and elevator, and how do you controll elevator? Controlling rudder is shown here http://www.aerosquare.com/images/stories/a320_construction/a320_commandes_gouvernes.jpg but how is it with elevator? Is it also controlled by rods inside fuselage?

I hope it is all I wanted to ask, many thanks for your answers!

Regards,
Pavel Brodsky

P. S. This is me who asked here: http://www.aerosquare.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,66/func,view/id,9/catid,19/

P. S. S. See my work, this is todays picture. After I finished wings I didnt build for a long time, but now I started again.

Hi Pavel,
Congratulations for your building work. It looks like you've done a great job!
Nose gear: It's attached to F6; If you look on the side view there is a note indicating a 2mm plywood support to glue on F6.
This plywood support is shown on the F6 part.
Main gear: Goes between N2 and N4. On the wing plan a hard wood part is shown with a legend saying "Support train d'atterrissage Longeron bois dur 10 x 6 rainuré".
That's were the main gear is located.
Yes the elevator goes as drawn on the plans between F18 and F19. And there are 2 2mm plywood parts to connect the 2 halves together.
Elevator and rudder servos are located in the middle of the fuselage, above wing belly.
Elevator control rods can be done according to your personal habits and taste. Just make sure there is no hard point or bending in your control rods.
Best regards
Jeff

Re:landing gear, elevator and servos Il y a 9 mois, 2 semaines Karma: 1
Hello once more from Czech Republic,
I am now finishing my A320, one of last things to do is to finish main landing gear.
On this picture: I see parts of your gear. I think, that the "Z" wire in left top is the main support of gear. But how is it attached to "Support train d'atterrissage Longeron bois dur 10 x 6 rainuré"? I tried to draw "Support train d'atterrissage Longeron bois dur 10 x 6 rainuré" as a red object into your picture - am I correct? Do I have placed "Support train d'atterrissage Longeron bois dur 10 x 6 rainuré" correctly? But how is the "Z" wire attached to it? I dont believe that it is only glued.

Second part of question - what are the two black sticks between this "Z" wire and the silver rod on the right? Are those two black sticks some support inserted to the silver one?

And the last question - can you advice me, which material are you parts made of? I think, that the silver one is made of aluminium, but I am not sure. What are the others of?

Once more thank you for your assistance, I wish all comecrcial companies had so good technical support like you are

Pavel

P. S. Some time ago I asked about some cheap engines in some other toppic - you advised me some EDFs from hobbycity - yesterday I received them together with ESCs from HC - they work great!

Hi Pavel,
My landing gear design was quite basic and simple but, well it works
The part "Support train d'atterrissage Longeron bois dur 10 x 6 rainuré" is slotted to the diameter of the Z wire and there is also a small hole where to insert the z bend of the wire. Then the z wire is simply maintained with 2 nylon straps, like the ones you can find on all those ARF planes. In case of hard landing the strap will break before your wing!
The 2 black sticks on the photo are simply pieces of carbon rods I used to match the diameter of the wire and the inner diameter of the aluminium tube on the right. As I said this is was just a quick and dirty way to build the landing gear leg with what I could find on my workshop. You can probably improve this.
Thanks for the compliment about the "assistance". I'm very happy to see that other modelers like you are enjoying building this A320, and it's a pleasure to help you.
I'm currently working on a new project for another airliner. It will be bigger than the A320 (2m wingspan) and will have retracts and working flaps. But you will see more on the site next year
I still use those edf fans http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=6632&aff=642 from Hobbycity on my ME262. It's great to fly

BTW: I was in Prague last September for the model fair. Next time I hope we'll have the opportunity to meet.

Cheers

Jeff

Seems to be really simple, but one more question - what was the diameter of the "Z" wire? I assume about 3-4 milimetres? Am I true?

Ad. Prague - of course, the traditional Prague events are awesome, maybe we'll meet there, there is also a nice fair with real general aviation airplanes called AeroExpo, but I know that you are from France and it is quite far to go there
