Hello Jeff... Yesterday (24 Jan) was an exhibition in London. I bought Radiolink radio set. 6 channel 2.4 ghz transmitter and receiver. Seem ok to me. I was reading the manual, there were some points which I do not understand. I'm hoping that you can help me.

6 channel receiver. 4 servos connected. CH-1 Aileron CH-2 Elevator CH-3 Pitch Trim CH-4 Throttle CH-5 gyro ... How do I connect speed controller and motor? I'm a just a beginner, so far I came well but I'm confused about this. What did you use for your model? whats the motor properties and speed controller? and your battery was it LIPO? what was the voltage and amp ?
Receiver says 6v is recommended. and with speed controller, do you connect two motors together?

and it says CH-1 for aileron but don't we need two servos for the ailerons? and throttle servo.. We are not gonna put carburetor piston engine. so throttle servo is not required. and also do I need gyro? should use rudder servo directly to that channel?

so many questions but I really appreciate your help Jeff.

Hi,
Well, you seem a bit confused with your rc equipment
Frankly the most honest piece of advice I can give you now, is to start with a beginner's airplane, learn how to fly it and then come back to your Airbus project.
This A320 model is everything but a beginner's model. She is not vicious, but it's a twin engines low wing model, not a trainer. The A320 can fly and reacts fast. It won't forgive errors as a trainer will do, and if you manage to get it airborne, I'm afraid the flight will be shorter than what you expect
This being said, if you are going to use brushless motors, which is anyway the only valid option for ducted fans you will need two controllers for the motors. You can link the 2 controllers to one channel of your receiver using a Y connector cable. If channel 4 is for throttle, you can of course use it for the motors.
Batteries are lipos. The AUW of the plane should be around 1.8 to 2 kg. So 2 fans delivering about 600g of thrust each will be fine.

I use them on a small ME262 and they just rock! Actually they are too powerful for my small ME262, but for the A320 they should be fine. They are very inexpensive and run quite well on 3S lipos. As each of these fans draws about 30 amps at full throttle, you need a lipo pack capable to sustain at least 60 amps. A 25C 2500 Mah lipo pack can make it, but you will have to manage power if you want to have decent flight times.
A 3000 Mah lipo will give longer flight time and no much more weight to carry.

One more thing. If you plan to use a separate battery pack for receiver (safer), you have to disconnect BOTH becs coming from the controllers.
That's easy: Just disconnect the red wire (middle one) to connect each controller to the receiver; Then connect a separate battery pack for reception.
You can also keep one of the bec and use no battery for reception. But on 3S with 4 servos, I would not recommend doing that.

Of course I can give you more advice about the A320 build. But something I can't do, is teach you how to fly remotely. So, my last suggestion for today, would be to find a model club in your area. I'm sure there will be somebody there to help you and teach you how to fly a model plane. You will also get help to fine tune your Airbus and get it airborne safely.
